New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson is set to guest star in Law & Order: SVU after being seen filming an upcoming episode with his friend Mariska Hargitay in New York City.
The 30-year-old basketball player joined the cast and crew on set on Thursday, with details of his character yet to be disclosed. His appearance is scheduled for the episode airing on 5 November.
Hargitay, who stars in the long-running series and is also an executive producer, posed for a group photograph with Brunson and members of the production team during the shoot.
Sharing her own version of the photograph, Hargitay wrote: “Now introducing YOUR 2026 New York Knicks starting lineup!!!” The official Law & Order Instagram account added: “When the plans finally make it out of the group chat […] Jalen Brunson is officially headed to #SVU!”
The guest role comes several months after Brunson said he wanted to appear on the programme. Asked what he planned to do next after winning the NBA Championship in June, he replied: “Try to get on SVU.”
SVU star Christopher Meloni subsequently responded: “He can do whatever the hell he wants. He’s got the force of will.”
Brunson was joined on set by his father, Rick, while his wife, Ali Marks Brunson, and their daughter, Jordyn James Brunson, were also present. Cast member Kelli Giddish and actor Bill Heck were also seen at the shoot, with Heck appearing to be joining the cast next season.
Hargitay was photographed holding one of her new Emmy awards, days after hosting the 2026 Emmy Awards. The previous week, she won two Emmys for her documentary, My Mom Jayne.
Season 28 of Law & Order: SVU is due to premiere on NBC on Thursday, 8 October, at 9pm ET/PT.
