Jessica Biel has joined the cast of Playmates, an upcoming film inspired by writer and director Lorraine Nicholson’s childhood experiences at the Playboy Mansion.
Biel will play the wife of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, although her character is not reportedly based on any of Hefner’s real-life wives.
Sharing news of her casting on her Instagram story, Biel said: “Absolutely thrilled to join this project with this amazing cast!”
Bill Pullman is set to portray Hefner, while Lily-Rose Depp and Indiana Elle are also part of the cast.
What is Playmates about?
Set in Los Angeles, Playmates follows 13-year-old Elle, played by Indiana Elle, who regards the Playboy Mansion as her second home.
There, Elle meets Anna, portrayed by Depp, one of seven hopefuls competing to become Playmate of the Month. The pair form an unlikely friendship as they try to help each other achieve their ambitions: a magazine cover and a boy.
Hefner was married three times during his life: to Millie Williams from 1949 to 1959, Kimberley Conrad from 1989 to 2010, and Crystal Harris from 2012 until his death in 2017.
Biel’s casting comes a day after she attended the New York premiere of Matchbox: The Movie, which is due to debut on Apple TV on Friday October 9.
