A ticketless passenger boarded a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Brisbane, causing a delay of about half an hour before being escorted from the aircraft.
The man allegedly passed Jetstar staff and flight crew before boarding flight JQ562 on Wednesday morning without a boarding pass. He was spotted at the back of the plane shortly before take-off.
Authorities were called to remove him from the aircraft. The flight had been scheduled to depart at 9.35am but left at 10.09am, arriving in Brisbane 28 minutes behind schedule.
The Australian Federal Police said officers attended Melbourne Airport at about 10am after receiving reports of an alleged airside security breach.
An AFP spokesperson said the investigation was under way and that “further comment will be made at an appropriate time”.
