Jim Carrey has married his longtime girlfriend, Min Ah, in a private ceremony in Los Angeles, a representative for the actor has confirmed.
The 64-year-old star and the 32-year-old actress and artist are believed to have been together for several years, although they have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye.
Carrey’s daughter, Jane, and grandson, Jackson, attended the ceremony.
The couple made their public debut at the Cesar Awards in France seven months ago, where Carrey introduced Min Ah as his “sublime companion”. He was the guest of honour at the event after receiving an Honorary Cesar Award.
Carrey thanked his family during his acceptance speech, saying: “Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah.”
He also paid tribute to his late father, Percy Joseph Carrey, whom he credited with teaching him “the value of love, generosity and laughter”. The actor delivered the entire speech in French.
Carrey’s appearance at the French film awards prompted bizarre online rumours that a clone had taken his place, after viewers commented on his refreshed look. His publicist dismissed the speculation, confirming that it was indeed the actor on stage.
It is unclear when Carrey and Min Ah began dating. They were photographed leaving a charity comedy event in Los Angeles in February 2022.
Carrey was previously married to his Dumb And Dumber co-star Lauren Holly from 1996 to 1997. He was also married to Melissa Womer, the mother of his daughter Jane, from 1987 to 1995.
The actor has generally kept his personal life private. In an interview in April 2022, he said he was “retiring” from acting to enjoy his “quiet life”, adding: “I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”
