Actress Jodie Turner-Smith and her brother, Richard Smith, are facing a lawsuit from three anonymous women who allege they were pressured to take drugs and participate in sexual activity at parties. Turner-Smith says the case was filed by a person who has been harassing her and denies the claims.
The lawsuit, filed on Thursday, alleges that Richard invited the women to gatherings where they encountered narcotics, firearms and people engaging in sexual activity.
Two of the Jane Does claim Richard pressured them to use drugs and have sex with him. One alleges that she was allowed to stay at his Los Angeles home in exchange for sex.
One claimant also alleges that she later discovered the property where the alleged illegal activity took place was owned by Turner-Smith.
Claims made against Jodie Turner-Smith
A second woman claims Richard told her that Turner-Smith knew about his alleged drug operation, had used cocaine with him and helped pay for another supply of narcotics.
She further alleges that Richard said Turner-Smith gave him an Audi which he used to transport packages to the US Postal Service that allegedly contained narcotics being moved across state lines.
The same woman claims Richard said he was “more talented than” his sister and made other comments expressing hostility towards Black women and members of his family.
The three women are suing Richard for claims including sexual battery, false imprisonment, emotional distress and fraud. Turner-Smith is separately accused of property-related negligence, negligence per se, child endangerment and aiding and abetting.
A representative for Turner-Smith said: “This is a fictional lawsuit filed by someone who has been harassing Jodie while hiding behind the name Jane Doe. The claims are not true. This is an abuse of the legal system, allowing someone to make up facts and file meritless legal documents.”
Although the lawsuit names three anonymous accusers, Turner-Smith’s representatives claim it was filed by one person using three Jane Doe identities.
