Kelly Clarkson returned to the stage in Las Vegas on Wednesday, performing at a packed event amid her public dispute with Brooklyn curiosity shop Art of Play.
The singer performed at Allegiant Stadium, where she delivered a series of hits including “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”, “Breakaway”, “Since U Been Gone” and “Favorite Kind Of High”. She was described as “thrilled” to be performing in front of the crowd.
Clarkson did not address the dispute during the show. Footage from the performance showed her hitting the high notes during “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”.
The row began after Clarkson visited Art of Play last Saturday and asked about a mechanical bird named Molly, displayed in the shop and initially believed by her to be priced at $15,000.
Clarkson later said on social media that she felt snubbed by an employee and was made to feel as though she could not afford the item. She compared the experience with Julia Roberts’ character in the film Pretty Woman.
Art of Play responded in a series of exchanges online, saying the $15,000 price referred to an almost identical bird owned by Seattle artist Bliss Kolb. The shop said it had offered Clarkson another singing bird costing about $2,000, but that she chose to leave.
Security footage obtained and published by journalist Pablo Torre, without audio, showed Clarkson inside the shop pointing towards Molly and speaking emotionally with the employee.
The singing and dancing bird is now listed for sale at $15 million.
