A Campbellfield food truck is drawing crowds with a menu centred on traditional meat dishes and the personal touch of its owner, Latif Sahin.
Sahin cooks and serves the food himself, bringing his heritage to a project built around a warm welcome in an op-shop car park. The truck’s speciality is braised lamb liver, prepared by hand and cooked slowly with lamb tail fat, onions, peppers and spices.
The liver is served in a crisp, long roll with red onion, tomato and chilli flakes. The result is soft and rich, with a creamy texture and a meaty flavour.
Other dishes include spiced, grilled chicken, while sucuk – a spiced beef sausage – is paired with house chilli sauce and grilled halloumi. Lamb koftes are seasoned with care, and chip snack packs can be served with either beef or chicken and finished with sauces including Sahin’s garlic yoghurt.
Campbellfield food truck’s standout dish
The recommended order is kavurma meats over buttered rice, with the liver and beef singled out as the strongest choices.
The cooking, along with Sahin’s attentiveness to customers, has helped make the Campbellfield food truck a destination for honest, hearty food in an unexpected setting.
