Liverpool’s plan for Rio Ngumoha is understood to involve a greater role for the 18-year-old this season, despite reported interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Ngumoha is highly regarded at Anfield and is said to be happy at Liverpool, with the club believing he can make a stronger first-team contribution than he did last term.
There remains some uncertainty over his longer-term future, however. His current contract runs until 2028, while interest from leading clubs has increased after he showed glimpses of his potential.
Liverpool expect more opportunities for Rio Ngumoha
According to the Daily Mail, the expectation inside Liverpool is that Andoni Iraola will rotate his attacking options extensively this season, including after the arrival of new signing Bradley Barcola.
That approach could create more opportunities for Ngumoha, who is still developing but has already demonstrated the ability to operate at a high level. Liverpool are understood to be satisfied with his progress and believe he will receive more first-team minutes.
Ngumoha’s emergence has also attracted attention from Arsenal, who could view him as a possible option on the left side of their forward line. Bayern Munich are among the other clubs reported to be monitoring the situation.
The England international faces competition for a place, but Liverpool will be keen to retain a player they regard as an elite young talent. Any failure to secure his future could leave the club vulnerable to losing him to a major rival.
