A married couple have been arrested on suspicion of murdering their 40-year-old son-in-law at a sports complex in Dublin, California, police said.
Jonathan McKinsey was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the car park at Dublin Sports Grounds on Saturday, September 26, at about 3.08pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dublin Police Services said a sergeant driving near the facility on Dublin Boulevard saw a man lying on the ground and stopped to investigate, as emergency dispatchers received several 911 calls reporting the shooting.
Officers, assisted by witnesses, detained two suspects who had remained nearby. They were identified as Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77 and residents of Dublin. Police said the pair were married and were Mr McKinsey’s parents-in-law.
Zhang and Chen were arrested on suspicion of murder under California Penal Code section 187 and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Police said there were no outstanding suspects and no known threat to the public. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing, including a possible motive.
