Meghan Markle is rumoured to want to narrate a documentary Prince Harry is reportedly developing about his late mother, Diana, ahead of a potential release marking the 30th anniversary of her death.
No documentary has been officially confirmed, but reports suggest the Duke of Sussex is in discussions about producing the project, with Netflix said to be a possible buyer. The couple are also believed to have been in talks with the streaming service about the documentary since early 2025.
Hollywood insiders have claimed the film could generate up to £74 million for Harry, Meghan and their Archewell Productions company. One described the project as a major deal, saying: “They are banking on it being a global phenomenon, first on the big screen and then streaming on TV.”
The insider added: “And it’s going to make a fortune for Harry, Meghan and their Archewell Production company.” They also claimed the couple could earn more from the project than the 142 million dollar, five-year Netflix contract they signed after moving to the United States.
Tom Sykes, writing for The Royalist, has raised the possibility that Meghan could provide the narration. “A very interesting rumour that I have been told is that Meghan wants to narrate Harry’s film about Diana,” he said.
Mr Sykes suggested Harry sees parallels between Diana’s experience and Meghan’s, but warned against giving the Duchess too much influence over the production. “I think Netflix has learnt the lesson about letting the talent have too much control,” he said. “I don’t think that one will get much past the drawing board.”
The reports emerged shortly after Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, released a memoir entitled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.
