Nicki Minaj has criticised the Democratic Party for becoming too closely associated with pop culture, describing its approach as “petty and childish” ahead of an interview with Lara Trump on Fox News.
In a preview of the interview, the rapper told the My View With Lara Trump host that she had become disenchanted with the Democrats because of the way they dealt with artists and celebrity culture.
“I think the Democrats have gotten way too caught up in pop culture, for lack of a better term,” Minaj said.
She added that the party had “allowed their relationships with artists to cause them to act like children and to be so petty and childish”.
The comments are the latest indication of Minaj’s right-leaning political views. Last week, she was asked by Laura Ingraham what she would say to people who criticised her support for President Trump.
“Absolutely nothing,” she replied.
