Orlando police are investigating a reported bomb threat at City Hall in downtown Orlando, where the building was evacuated and part of South Orange Avenue was closed.
Officers were called to the 400 block of South Orange Avenue at about 11am on Monday, August 31, after the threat was reported, according to city officials cited by WFTV.
The Orlando Police Department described the incident in a post on X as a “suspicious incident investigation” and urged people to avoid the area while officers carried out their enquiries.
Several Orlando Police Department and Orlando Fire Department vehicles were seen near City Hall. The building is located close to the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, where people evacuated from the premises may be directed.
Orange Avenue appeared to be closed near City Hall as the investigation continued.
Police have not released further details about what prompted the response or said whether any device has been found. A spokesperson for the City of Orlando referred enquiries to the police department.
