Hulu has unveiled the trailer for Phony, a new coming-of-age mystery series starring Connie Britton and Sam Nivola as a mother and son.
The story follows a teenager who wakes in hospital after a car accident and finds that his mother – his only parent and closest friend – appears to have been replaced by an impostor.
Phony cast and creative team
Britton, 59, and Nivola, 23, have both appeared in separate seasons of The White Lotus. The cast also includes Grace Brennan, Maliq Johnson, Colter Lee, Meera Syal and Mahaela Park.
The series was created by Nick Paley, who wrote the first two episodes and will direct half of the first season. Paley is also an executive producer alongside co-showrunner Anthony King, Britton, Charlie Alderman, Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg.
The half-hour series is due to premiere on Hulu on Tuesday, October 20.
The newly released trailer introduces the mystery surrounding the teenager’s mother as he attempts to establish what happened after the crash and whether the woman at his side is really who she claims to be.
