Australia’s Powerball jackpot has climbed to $100 million after the division one prize went unclaimed for a fifth consecutive week, setting up one of the biggest lottery draws in more than a year.
More than half of Australian adults are expected to enter next Thursday’s draw, which is scheduled for October 15. A single winner would share the distinction of claiming the country’s third-largest lottery prize.
The jackpot was last set at $100 million in June 2025. The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said the scale of the prize was likely to generate significant interest.
“We expect up to half of Australian adults to have an entry into next Thursday’s draw,” Mr Hart said.
He added that, during the previous $100 million Powerball draw, sales peaked at 6.27pm, when 8,315 tickets were sold in one minute.
Although no ticket matched the division one prize in Thursday’s October 8 draw, five division two winners each collected more than $200,000.
The winning numbers in draw 1586 were 20, 15, 7, 8, 10, 19 and 12, with 7 drawn as the Powerball.
Attention is now focused on the next draw and the prospect of one ticket securing the entire jackpot.
“Just imagine the endless possibilities with a multimillion-dollar Powerball prize in your back pocket,” Mr Hart said.
“Whether it’s jet-setting around the globe, building your dream home, or setting your family up for generations to come, someone’s dreams could become a reality.”
