Presley Gerber’s parents, model Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, have been supporting their son through addiction issues for the past decade, according to reports following his death aged 27.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Presley was in a rehabilitation facility when he died on Sunday, September 20. No cause of death was provided in the information available.
Presley, who was born in July 1999, followed his mother into modelling. His younger sister, Kaia Gerber, was born in September 2001.
Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s relationship
Crawford and Gerber met in the early 1990s at a mutual friend’s wedding. Both were unavailable at the time – Crawford was married to Richard Gere – but they later became a couple after each had become single.
They married in the Bahamas in May 1998 and went on to have two children together.
Crawford previously described the importance of friendship in their relationship during an interview in 2013.
“We started off as friends, and I know that Rande and I, we will always be friends, no matter what,” she said. “Being rooted and based in friendship, it keeps the relationship elevated. There’s always a certain level of respect.”
She added: “We respect each other’s opinion about parenting and our personal life, but also for work stuff … We really listen to each other. I would want that friendship in my life no matter what.”
In a rare interview in 2022, Gerber spoke about his affection for Crawford and her focus on family.
“There are so many things I love about her. She’s still a small-town girl at heart,” he said. “The most important thing to Cindy is her family and making sure that we’re all happy.”
Gerber also described his wife as “low-key despite her high-profile position” and said: “She’s someone who constantly gives back, who does so many things for so many people without asking for anything in return. She means the world to me.”
Cindy Crawford’s modelling career
Crawford became one of the world’s best-known models after appearing in George Michael’s music video for Freedom! ’90 and starring in a Pepsi advert in 1991.
During the 1990s she was part of the group known as the “Big Five” supermodels, alongside Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Claudia Schiffer.
She ended her full-time modelling career in 2000 and later moved into home furnishings, launching a collection in 2005 with ranges associated with Rooms to Go, Raymour & Flanigan and JC Penney.
Rande Gerber and Casamigos
Gerber is a businessman and co-founder of Casamigos Tequila. He launched the company in 2013 with longtime friend George Clooney and business partner Michael Meldman.
The company was sold to Diageo four years later for 700 million dollars. Crawford and Gerber have been reported as having a combined net worth of 400 million dollars.
