An alleged victim in the Russell Brand rape trial told police that his tongue was “lizard-like” during an encounter she says took place in a hotel room in 1999.
The woman’s 2023 police interview was played in court on Thursday. She said she decided to come forward after watching a documentary about alleged misconduct by Brand.
She told officers that the encounter began after she spoke to Brand following a theatre performance. According to her account, he suggested they return to his hotel room.
Once there, she said Brand removed his clothes down to his underwear, prompting her to ask: “No, what are you doing?”
She alleged that he groped her and continued kissing her despite her attempts to stop him. She described his tongue as “lizard-like”.
The woman further alleged that Brand pulled down her trousers and penetrated her. “It was not nice; it was painful. He just wanted to ejaculate, and that’s what he did,” she told police.
She said Brand behaved afterwards as though nothing significant had happened. The woman told officers that she felt “dirty” and believed the alleged rape was her fault.
Brand’s trial began earlier this week and is expected to continue for several months. Six alleged victims are due to describe incidents they say took place between 1999 and 2009.
Brand faces charges of rape, sexual assault and indecent assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
