A major rescue operation is under way after a woman in her 30s fell about 30 metres down a cliff face in the Blue Mountains.
Emergency services were called to the Ben Trovato Wall in Leura, within the Blue Mountains National Park, at about 11am on Saturday. The woman had been climbing when she fell down the slope.
NSW Ambulance paramedics are treating her at the scene for head, neck and shoulder injuries. Several paramedics and the NSW Ambulance Toll rescue helicopter have attended.
NSW Police said officers had been called to a walking track after reports that a hiker had fallen from a cliff.
“She is believed to be in a serious but stable condition,” a police spokesperson said. “An operation to rescue the woman is under way.”
