England sealed a first Test series victory since December 2024 by defeating Pakistan by 194 runs at Lord’s, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead with one match remaining.
Set 389 to win on the fourth day, Pakistan were dismissed for 194 as England’s seam attack completed a commanding performance at the Home of Cricket.
Ollie Robinson was the outstanding bowler, claiming four wickets for 24 runs in the second innings after taking four for 11 in Pakistan’s first. His match figures of eight wickets underlined his decisive contribution to England’s success.
Pakistan’s hopes rested on Saud Shakeel, who made 97 and shared a fourth-wicket stand of 97 with captain Shan Masood. Robinson eventually removed Masood for 26, before dismissing Mohammad Rizwan and breaking Pakistan’s resistance.
Jofra Archer also played a key role, dismissing Babar Azam with a sharply rising delivery, while Josh Tongue finished off the tail and took the final wicket of Mohammad Ali.
Earlier, Mohammad Abbas claimed five for 57 as England were bowled out for 208, but Pakistan could not build on that success. England had already won the opening Test at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs.
The result gives Joe Root victory in the first two Tests of his second spell as England captain, with the final match of the series scheduled to begin at Edgbaston on 10 September.
