Romeo Beckham’s acting debut has been unveiled in the trailer for Forty Love, a French film about two rival tennis players whose competition develops into a romance.
Beckham, 24, stars opposite Paul Kircher, who plays Sacha Gallo, a 21-year-old player trained by his father and determined to win his first major title in Paris.
What is Forty Love about?
Sacha’s ambitions are disrupted by the arrival of a new rival, played by Beckham. As their relationship changes, Sacha is forced to confront an unexpected challenge: falling in love.
The trailer includes a line delivered by Beckham’s character that recreates a remark made by Rafael Nadal about Roger Federer during a press conference at the 2017 US Open.
“I don’t want to sound like I want to be his boyfriend,” Beckham says in the film.
Nadal’s original comment came after he was asked what he admired most about Federer. He replied: “I don’t want to look like I am, I want to be his boyfriend,” prompting laughter from reporters.
Forty Love also features Guillaume Canet and Benjamin Voisin, with Catherine Deneuve making a special appearance.
Fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti makes his feature-film directorial debut with the project, working from a screenplay written with Gaëlle Macé.
Forty Love is due to be released in French cinemas on 25 November 2026. International release dates have not yet been announced.
