A suspect has been arrested more than eight months after the fatal hit-and-run that killed former Nickelodeon child star Kianna Underwood in Brooklyn.
Michael Griffiths, 72, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident with injury.
Underwood was struck in the Brownsville neighbourhood in January 2026. It has been reported that she was dragged for almost two blocks by one of the vehicles involved before first responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
The collision involved two cars: a Ford Explorer SUV followed by a sedan. It is not clear which vehicle Griffiths is alleged to have been driving.
Underwood rose to fame after appearing on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy programme All That in 2005. She also provided a voice for the Nick Jr. series Little Bill.
She had struggled with homelessness in recent years.
