A 22-year-old man has been found dead inside an apartment in south-west Atlanta after firefighters were called to a suspicious fire.
Atlanta Fire Rescue crews were sent to the complex on Stanton Road at about 9.45pm on Wednesday, where they discovered the man in a bedroom. Police homicide investigators are now working with fire officials to establish how he died and what caused the blaze. Investigators have described the incident as suspicious. Friends of the man’s family told local television station FOX 5 Atlanta that they believed he may have been shot before the apartment was set alight.
Police have not confirmed that account, and the victim’s identity had not been released by early Thursday morning. No arrests or further details about the investigation have been announced.
