Terrence Howard has said he is considering a run for president, telling a photographer in New York that he may seek office if other leaders fail to make a meaningful difference.
The Empire star was asked on Wednesday whether he was looking forward to voting, but replied: “Yes. I’m looking forward to becoming president.”
Pressed on whether he was serious, Howard said: “If they’re not going to make a difference, somebody’s got to do something.”
Howard said reparations would be central to his potential political platform. He also said he would like to meet President Trump to discuss the lasting impact of slavery.
He argued that descendants of enslaved people should be exempt from federal taxes for 400 years. Howard said the proposal could help narrow the economic gap and encourage investment in Black communities, describing it as a way to heal “400 years of bad karma.”
He also discussed Nicki Minaj’s relationship with Trump and questioned whether she was using her political influence for the right reasons.
