Three people have been arrested in Palm Coast, Florida, after deputies said two women tried to conceal a wanted man during a warrant operation.
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to a home on Ballenger Lane on 17 September looking for 20-year-old Jeremiah Myke, who was wanted on a felony warrant relating to criminal mischief causing more than $1,000 in damage.
Investigators said Julianna Colon, 18, and Crystelle Colon, 23, told deputies that Myke had left the property the previous day and that they did not know where he was. The women allegedly refused permission for the home to be searched.
Deputies from the agency’s Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit, Fugitive Apprehension Unit and patrol division then kept the property under surveillance, according to the sheriff’s office.
Myke was later seen leaving the residence with Julianna Colon. Deputies stopped the vehicle and arrested both occupants, before returning to speak to Crystelle Colon, who allegedly then acknowledged that Myke had been inside during the earlier conversation.
Myke was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Both women were charged with obstruction without violence after deputies alleged they had knowingly lied about harbouring him.
All three were taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. Myke was being held on a $5,000 bond, while both women were released on $500 bonds.
Flagler County sheriff Rick Staly said the arrests showed the consequences of attempting to mislead officers during a fugitive investigation.
