One possible solution would be the departure of Noa Lang, whose future is also the subject of late-window interest. Napoli would need to make space before proceeding with Woltemade, with Marc Guiu understood to be a more straightforward alternative because of squad-list considerations.
Woltemade was an unused substitute in Newcastle’s opening Premier League match against Liverpool but started their Carabao Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion in midweek, underlining the uncertainty over his role at St James’ Park.
