Two Royal Air Force pilots have been injured after ejecting from a training jet before it crashed near homes on Anglesey in Wales.
The T2 Hawk aircraft appeared to stall during an exercise on Wednesday, local time, before the pilots left the aircraft. Footage recorded by a local resident showed the jet hitting the ground and erupting into a fireball within sight of nearby properties.
North Wales Police said the pilots were being treated for injuries thought to be minor. There were no reports of wider injuries or damage.
The RAF said the aircraft had been flying from RAF Valley, an airbase about 9km south-west of the crash site. Both pilots were receiving medical treatment and their families were being supported.
RAF pauses Hawk operations
The RAF has temporarily suspended exercises involving the aircraft model while the incident is investigated.
“The RAF has decided to temporarily pause Hawk T1 and T2 operations, as a precautionary measure, whilst investigations are ongoing,” it said.
