The USS Abraham Lincoln has returned to San Diego after more than 300 days at sea supporting the US-led war on Iran, with families gathering to greet sailors as they came home.
Relatives cheered and embraced their loved ones as the aircraft carrier completed what was described as a record-breaking deployment.
The prolonged mission was accompanied by supply shortages and breakdowns at facilities, while there were also reports of suicide attempts.
The return of the USS Abraham Lincoln marks the end of its extended deployment, during which the carrier remained at sea for more than 300 days.
