Micky van de Ven has named Harry Kane as the player Tottenham should re-sign, saying the former Spurs striker would guarantee 30 goals a season.
Tottenham’s captain made the endorsement during an interview with ESPN FC, when asked which player in world football he would bring to north London if given complete control of the club’s transfer business.
Van de Ven immediately chose Kane, who left Tottenham for Bayern Munich after establishing himself as the club’s record goalscorer.
“I’d bring back Harry (Kane) man. He guarantees 30 goals every year. He’s the greatest Tottenham player of all time,” the Dutch centre-back said.
Harry Kane remains Tottenham’s record goalscorer
Kane came through Tottenham’s academy and went on to score 280 goals in all competitions for the club, overtaking Jimmy Greaves to become their leading scorer.
He scored 213 Premier League goals for Spurs and won the competition’s Golden Boot three times, in 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2020/21.
The 2020/21 campaign was particularly notable, with Kane finishing as the Premier League’s leading scorer and also recording the most assists in the division.
Despite his individual success, Kane did not win a major trophy during his Tottenham career before moving to Bayern Munich. He has continued to score prolifically in Germany.
Van de Ven joined Tottenham shortly after Kane’s departure, but his comments underline the standing the striker retains at the club as Spurs seek inspiration during a challenging domestic campaign.
