A Walmart frozen pasta recall has been issued in the US after two lots of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine were found to have the potential to contain Listeria monocytogenes.
Gias Foods, based in New York, stopped distributing the product after routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services raised concerns. The affected pasta was sold nationwide in Walmart stores.
The recall covers frozen 22oz yellow plastic bags with the UPC number 194346442706. Shoppers should check for lot numbers L6079C or L6080C and expiry dates of 19 September 2027 or 20 September 2027, which are printed on the back of the packaging.
No illnesses had been reported in connection with the product as of the recall announcement on 15 September 2026. The company said it had launched an investigation, while the US Food and Drug Administration continued to examine the cause of the suspected contamination.
Listeria can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, older people and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may experience symptoms including a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
The infection can also lead to miscarriage or stillbirth in pregnant women, according to health authorities.
Anyone who has bought the affected bettergoods pasta should not eat it and is advised to return it to the store for a full refund. Consumers with questions can contact Gias Foods on 917-675-4890 or by email at sales@giasfoods.com.
