James “Princess” Cuda died from sudden cardiac death at a sober house in Pennsylvania, according to the Luzerne County coroner. He was 53.
Coroner Dion Fernandes said Cuda’s tests were negative for drugs and alcohol and that his death was from natural causes.
His body was found at the sober home in Wilkes-Barre on 30 August.
Cuda was known for appearing on the US reality programme Wife Swap. In a 2013 episode, he featured as a gay nanny who travelled from Las Vegas to an Amish farm in Michigan.
Marissa Zdazinsky, a close friend and fellow Wife Swap cast member, announced his death on Instagram at the time, describing it as “the saddest moment of my life”.
Zdazinsky also said Cuda had been battling alcohol problems and that she and her husband had tried to support him through substance abuse issues.
