A woman in her 90s has died after a stabbing at an apartment in Bondi, while a second woman was fatally stabbed in a separate incident in regional New South Wales on Saturday.
Police were called to the Bondi unit in Chambers Avenue at about 5.15pm after reports of a stabbing. Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command found the woman with significant injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated her at the scene, but she died there. A 47-year-old man, believed to have been known to the woman, was arrested and taken to Surry Hills police station.
A crime scene has been established at the Bondi property as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Second fatal stabbing in Wagga Wagga
Earlier on Saturday, a 23-year-old woman died after being stabbed at a home in Kooringal, a suburb of Wagga Wagga.
Emergency services were called at about 11.45am. Police officers and ambulance paramedics performed CPR, but the woman died at the property.
An 18-year-old was arrested at the scene. Police are searching for a second man who left the residence before emergency services arrived.
Police believe all three people involved in the Wagga Wagga incident were known to one another. A crime scene has been established at the home and detectives have begun inquiries.
