Former child actor Bobb’e J. Thompson has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a gun charge in Iowa.
The sentence was handed down by a judge on Thursday, almost a year after police stopped Thompson for allegedly driving at 104mph in a 70mph zone.
Officers said they searched his bag during the traffic stop and found packages of marijuana bought at a dispensary, along with a loaded .40-calibre handgun.
The firearm was allegedly stolen from a car in Kansas City, Missouri. Thompson pleaded guilty to the charge in April.
He will also serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence. Thompson is currently being held by US Marshals pending his transfer to a federal prison.
Thompson became known as a child star for playing Stanley on the television series That’s So Raven. His other screen credits include the films Role Models, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Shark Tale.
He also appeared in television programmes including The Tracy Morgan Show, 30 Rock and Wild ’n Out.
Prosecutors said Thompson was convicted in 2022 of battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and prohibited firearm possession. He has faced several legal issues since ending his acting career.
