Martin Odegaard can reportedly imagine a move to Bayern Munich, with the Arsenal captain’s future at the Emirates Stadium becoming a potential issue if he does not agree a new contract.
Sky Germany reports that Bayern have maintained an interest in the Norway international over a number of years. The Bundesliga club have previously been unable to reach an agreement for the former Real Madrid midfielder.
Odegaard’s current Arsenal deal runs until the summer of 2028, but the absence of progress on an extension could encourage interest from leading European clubs.
Arsenal face decision over Martin Odegaard
Arsenal are understood to have no interest in selling Odegaard this summer. However, the latest report suggests the club could consider a transfer involving the 27-year-old if he does not commit his future to them on improved terms.
Odegaard remains a key figure for Mikel Arteta’s side and has produced outstanding performances during his time in north London. His influence has nevertheless been affected by injury problems in recent periods, with greater consistency also becoming a concern.
Bayern’s interest is not believed to be new. The German club were reported to be monitoring Odegaard earlier in the year, while other major European sides have also been linked with him.
Any decision to sell would leave Arsenal needing to find a replacement capable of providing the creativity and control currently supplied by their captain. The club’s recent record with attacking signings has raised doubts over whether they could easily recruit a player of the same profile.
