A felony battery charge against rapper Rick Ross has been dropped in a Miami domestic violence case, with prosecutors instead filing two misdemeanour charges.
Court documents state that the remaining charges are battery and battery/domestic violence. The felony charge was dismissed because of insufficient evidence.
Ross had previously pleaded not guilty to felony battery by strangulation and a misdemeanour battery charge.
The case followed allegations by an ex-girlfriend, who told police that Ross had slapped, struck and choked her. She also alleged that he grabbed her ponytail and slammed her against a wall.
Ross later turned himself in and was arrested on the two battery charges.
