Viktor Gyokeres has been challenged to show Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta what he can do after a difficult start to the season at the Emirates Stadium.
The Sweden international has yet to start a Premier League match this campaign and has played only 12 minutes in the competition. Arsenal have instead preferred Kai Havertz as their first-choice striker.

Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter believes Gyokeres can use his time with Sweden to demonstrate the qualities that have made him a leading forward, with the striker expected to receive regular opportunities at international level.
Potter said: “Viktor Gyökeres has had a tough start to the season, but he is appreciated and guaranteed playing time with the national team. That should be a good reason to want to use the national team to show Mikel Arteta what he can do.”
Gyokeres enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Arsenal, scoring more than 20 goals in all competitions and playing a key role in the club’s Premier League title win.
The 28-year-old is now facing a fight to regain a regular place in Arteta’s side. A strong run of performances for Sweden could encourage Arsenal to give him more chances in the starting line-up, particularly with a long season ahead and the need for attacking depth.
However, Gyokeres’ position at Arsenal remains uncertain. He was linked with a move away during the summer and, if his lack of Premier League opportunities continues, he could again attract speculation over a possible departure in January.
