Marlo Wallace is charged with the murder of Aaliyah Fortner
A North Carolina caregiver is accused of killing a non-verbal woman living in her home.
Marlo Wallace was charged with murder in the October 2025 death of Aaliyah Fortner, 23, according to reports from WCNC, WCCB and WSOC.
Wallace was the operator of a home for people with special needs in Dallas, N.C., where Fortner was found dead, according to WSOC, which cited police.
Authorities alleged that Fortner was beaten with a broom and shocked with a Taser, WSOC and WCNC reported.
Per WCNC, medical examiner records indicated that Fortner weighed just 84 pounds at the time of her death and that she lost 60 pounds over the course of six months.
The reported records also revealed that Fortner suffered blunt force injuries all over her body.
WCCB reported that Wallace was arrested in October after she was involved in a crash with a semi-truck. Per the outlet and WBTV, authorities alleged that she told police at the hospital that there was a dead body in her home.
It is not immediately clear if Wallace has entered a plea.
