A senior minister has effectively ruled out another fuel excise cut, despite petrol prices reaching as high as 237.8 cents per litre in parts of Australia.
The minister acknowledged pressure from rising fuel costs but offered reassurance that there was “light at the end of the tunnel”.
The comments dampen expectations of further government action to reduce the fuel excise as motorists face sharply higher prices.
