The FBI has raided a Beverly Hills mansion linked to former congressman Eric Swalwell as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
Federal agents reportedly arrived at the property on Tuesday morning. It remains unclear what they were seeking or whether any items were seized during the search.
The operation is the latest development in the investigation involving the former California Democrat. In August, agents confronted Mr Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport, where they seized his phone and other electronic devices after serving him with a search warrant.
Agents also searched his home in Washington DC the following day and reportedly gathered further potential evidence.
At least five women have accused Mr Swalwell of sexual misconduct. One former staff member alleged that he raped her while she was too intoxicated to consent.
Mr Swalwell has denied the sexual assault allegations. He previously acknowledged making “mistakes in judgment” but said he would fight the claims.
The allegations ended his political career, with Mr Swalwell resigning from Congress in April and abandoning his campaign for governor of California as the claims mounted.
The FBI raid on the Beverly Hills mansion suggests the investigation remains ongoing.
