A prominent family’s $9 million mansion in Brighton, Melbourne, has been targeted in a firebombing that destroyed two luxury cars.
Police said a car was used to ram the property’s fence at about 1.20am on Tuesday before accelerant was poured down the driveway and ignited.
The home belongs to construction industry figure Simon Pittard and his wife, Skye. Those inside the house were not injured.
The two vehicles remained at the property on Tuesday evening, while investigators treated the incident as a targeted attack.
Separately, Mr Pittard is involved in a legal dispute over the collapse of his former construction company, which left workers out of pocket and creditors owed millions of dollars. A Federal Court hearing is scheduled for next month, but there is no information linking the firebombing to that dispute.
