Bruno Fernandes has denied any rift within Portugal’s squad after Cristiano Ronaldo abruptly left the team’s training camp in Copenhagen.
Fernandes said he had spoken to Ronaldo, 41, following the departure and sought to play down suggestions of tensions among the players.
Ronaldo left after tensions with Portugal coach Jorge Jesus became public. He said he would explain the reasons for his decision “in due course”.
Fernandes’s comments came as Portugal dealt with the fallout from the walk-out and attempted to underline Ronaldo’s standing within the squad.
