Friends of Nolan Wells have said they will not be intimidated by alleged bomb and death threats made against them following claims about deleted Snapchat messages on the late teenager’s phone.
Attorneys Edward Andrew Paltzik and Tyler Cox said in a Friday statement that Jax Pitalo, Warren Hudson and Morgan Seymour “refuse to be intimidated by today’s litany of bomb and death threats”.
The lawyers said the threats had come from people “outside the community”. They alleged that the messages followed claims by Nolan Wells’ family lawyer, Ben Crump, that messages had been deleted between the last time Nolan used his phone and when it was handed to his family.
Paltzik and Cox accused Mr Crump of fuelling “runaway speculation and wild sensationalism” over the issue.
Jackson County District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath also challenged the claims. She said the “user action” discussed by Mr Crump’s team involved other Snapchat users, rather than someone physically accessing Nolan Wells’ phone.
Paltzik and Cox have previously said they intend to sue Mr Crump for defamation. Their latest statement ended with the warning: “As we have said before, consequences are coming. We are coming. And Hell is coming with us.”
