A five-year-old died after hitting her head on a playground in Connecticut.
Olivia Videtto was using a play area at her home in Harwinton, near Hartford, when she fell.
Police went to her parents’ home on Laurel Road, where she was when she hit her head around 2pm on Sunday.
She was life-flighted to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries, WOWT reported.
State Police said ‘nothing criminal has been found’ in the case, but her body has been given to the medical examiner’s office.
‘Connecticut State Police extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and the Harwinton community,’ it said in a statement.
‘There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow felt by our community,’ First Selectman Michael R. Criss said in a statement.
‘Olivia’s loss is being felt deeply by her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. https://dispatchtimes.com/in-the-press-our-editorial-impact/‘
State Senator Paul Honig also offered his condolences in a statement, writing: ‘Words are insufficient to describe the magnitude of this loss. Olivia was part of our community, and her loss leaves a mark on all of Harwinton.’
The little girl is remembered as being a bright student who was well-loved, Superintendent Fran Thompson told CT Insider.
‘Everybody loved her. She was just a true joy and embodied the spirit of the school and Region 10,’ he told the outlet.
She had spent three years at Harwinton Consolidated School, where she attended preschool and kindergarten.
Videtto loved learning and being around her classmates and teachers, Thompson said.
She was also a part of the PawPals club at her school, where students helped their community through service.
