Pep Guardiola has broken his silence on Manchester City’s financial-rule verdict, pledging his continued support for the club despite an independent commission finding serious breaches of Premier League regulations.
Guardiola left his position as City manager this summer after a decade in charge, but remains associated with the club as a technical adviser and global ambassador.
In a message to supporters, he said: “I want every single Man City fan to know I am here, more than ever.”
He added: “I am, always have been and always will be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters.
“Let me be clear: we will get through this together.
“I love you all.”
Manchester City to appeal financial verdict
The commission found Manchester City guilty of serious breaches covering the period between 2009/10 and 2017/18. It also upheld most of the charges concerning the club’s alleged failure to co-operate with the investigation.
The ruling said City had used “sham” commercial arrangements to inflate revenue and reduce costs by more than £900 million. The club has rejected the findings, describing the verdict as flawed, and has announced its intention to appeal.
No punishment has yet been determined, with the appeal process expected to continue for months.
City’s chief executive, Ferran Soriano, has maintained the club’s innocence, while chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has previously said its confidence in proving its case remained strong.
Guardiola’s intervention carries particular significance because he led Manchester City through the most successful period in its history, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time as manager.
His backing places one of the club’s most influential figures firmly alongside its current leadership, players, staff and supporters as the legal process continues.
