Detectives in Gwinnett County, in the Atlanta suburbs of Georgia, have released photographs and appealed for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of threatening a taxi driver with a knife.
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, the incident happened at the end of a journey on 10 May. The driver had picked the man up and taken him to the 1500 block of Shenta Oak Drive in Norcross. Once there, police say, the passenger paid only part of the fare, telling the driver he would go into a nearby home to fetch the rest of the money.
Instead, officers say, the man came back out carrying a knife in one hand and a pole in the other. The driver managed to drive away from the scene before contacting police. There has been no suggestion that anyone was hurt.
Investigators have since shared two images of the man they want to trace. Anyone who recognises him, or who has information about the case, is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives on (770) 513-5300. Tips can also be passed anonymously to Crime Stoppers on (404) 577-8477 or through the stopcrimeATL.com website.
The investigation remains open. Police have not named anyone in connection with the incident, and the man pictured is wanted only for questioning at this stage.
