Gypsy Rose Blanchard had discussed detailed wedding plans with Ken Urker months before his death, saying she wanted a traditional fairytale ceremony rather than a quick Las Vegas elopement.
Blanchard spoke about marriage during a podcast interview recorded in May, when Charlie Neff asked whether she felt pressured to marry Urker. She said the pressure came from the public rather than from Urker himself.
She also suggested that the pair could remain together without marrying, comparing their relationship to that of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
However, Blanchard said that if they did decide to wed, she would want a classic ceremony. She ruled out repeating the circumstances of her first marriage, which began with a wedding beside a prison bathroom.
Blanchard and Urker never married. Urker was found dead at his apartment in Louisiana on Thursday, where police say they discovered drug paraphernalia and a brown powder substance. An autopsy has been completed, but the results have not yet been released.
In an emotional tribute posted on Friday, Blanchard described Urker as her “greatest love story”. The pair had reportedly been spending some time apart, although sources said they had not ended their relationship or taken a formal break.
Those sources said Urker’s drinking had contributed to the time they spent apart.
