Erling Haaland marked Manchester City’s 1-0 derby victory over Manchester United with a pointed social media message from the Old Trafford pitch.
The Norwegian scored the decisive goal in the 60th minute, despite City playing with 10 men for more than an hour after Phil Foden was sent off in the first half.
Haaland posts message after Manchester derby victory
After the final whistle, Haaland shared a selfie showing him in his Manchester City shirt with the empty Old Trafford stands behind him. His caption consisted of a single word: “Nice.”
The understated post came after City had held on for victory in difficult circumstances. United struck the woodwork twice through Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, but Haaland made the difference when his opportunity arrived.
His goal followed a delivery into the penalty area from Josko Gvardiol and stood after a lengthy video assistant referee check. It was Haaland’s ninth goal in Manchester derbies, according to Manchester City’s official match report.
The result further strengthened the striker’s record against City’s local rivals since his arrival in England. His latest contribution proved particularly significant as City defended their lead after being reduced to 10 men.
Haaland’s brief message, posted from United’s own ground after scoring the winning goal, added an extra edge to an already notable derby victory.
