John Mulaney was bleeped during a risqué joke at the 2026 Emmy Awards while presenting the prize for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The 44-year-old comedian began by declaring: “This is the best part of the night. Lead actor in a drama. This award is for the guys, just men being men.”
He continued with jokes about men being “unrepresented” on television, while saying some male acting nominees “do method acting and some do regular, less annoying acting.”
The broadcast censored several words after Mulaney said: “I believe it was DJ Khaled who said…” He appeared to continue: “real men don’t go down on their wives,” before adding: “but these nominees know that that is B.S.”
Mulaney then finished the joke by saying: “They know there’s often less pressure on them if they do that first.”
The remarks referenced a 2015 interview in which DJ Khaled discussed refusing to perform oral sex on women.
Mulaney went on to announce the winner, with Noah Wyle taking the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award for his role in The Pitt.
