Kate Hore will become the first Melbourne Demon to reach 100 AFLW games when she leads her side out on Friday night.
The milestone marks another step in the career of a player who has developed into one of the competition’s most respected captains and leading performers.
Hore took over the Melbourne captaincy from AFLW great Daisy Pearce, who remains one of her strongest influences. The responsibility has not always been straightforward, with Hore having experienced moments of pressure and expectation since stepping into the role.
Asked whether Pearce had played a significant part in her career, Hore replied with a laugh: “Has Daisy Pearce been a big influence on my career?”
Her 100th appearance will make Hore the first player to reach the mark for Melbourne, underlining her importance to the club as she prepares for the latest chapter in her AFLW career.
