LA Knight has described his title match against Roman Reigns at WWE Money in the Bank as a potential final opportunity to win a WWE world championship.
Knight, who has spent 20 years in professional wrestling without claiming the company’s top title, said he had considered what his future might look like if he falls short again.
“I’ve probably kind of framed it that way a little bit because it just feels like … is it my last one ever? I don’t know,” Knight said. “It could be, who knows?”
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s event, Knight said the pressure came from the length of his pursuit and the repeated questions over why he had not yet become world champion.
“It’s almost like, put up or shut up, do or die. This is the time to do it,” he said. “And if it doesn’t happen here, it’s just kind of like, where do I go from here?”
Even victory over Reigns would not necessarily bring an end to the drama. With the Money in the Bank briefcase at stake, there remains the possibility of its winner cashing in later that night.
But Knight said his immediate priority was securing the championship before worrying about a potential cash-in.
“I gotta focus on getting the damn thing first before I worry about anybody cashing in on me,” he said.
He also warned that anyone attempting to challenge him after a victory could face a forceful response, saying it would be “a bad idea” if he were still standing and that an opponent might “eat” a shot from the championship belt.
WWE Money in the Bank takes place on Saturday October 10 in New Orleans, with the event due to stream live on the ESPN App from 6pm Eastern Time.
