Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly interested in Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma, with the Japan international approaching the final year of his contract.
Mitoma has established himself as an eye-catching Premier League performer since arriving at Brighton, but his current situation is expected to attract interest from clubs in England and abroad as he moves closer to becoming a free agent in 2027.
A report has identified Liverpool and Tottenham as the leading suitors at present. Arsenal and Chelsea have previously been linked with the 29-year-old, while Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are also understood to have shown interest.
Kaoru Mitoma’s options ahead of potential free transfer
Liverpool are believed to be considering attacking reinforcements, and Mitoma could offer additional depth in their forward line. His ability to operate from the wing would give them another option if he were to leave Brighton.
Tottenham may hold particular appeal because Mitoma previously played some of his best football under manager Roberto De Zerbi. The prospect of reuniting with his former Brighton boss could therefore be a factor in the winger’s decision.
However, Tottenham’s recent struggles mean there is uncertainty over De Zerbi’s position in north London. That could influence Mitoma as he weighs up whether a move to Spurs would provide the stability he is seeking.
With interest potentially building in both the Premier League and overseas, Mitoma is likely to have several options before his contract situation is resolved.
