Liverpool are reported to be leading Premier League interest in Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with initial contact already made with the Senegal international’s representatives.
The 22-year-old is understood to have attracted attention from Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, but Liverpool are said to have moved ahead of their rivals as they assess a possible January deal.

People close to the agents’ industry claim Liverpool have held preliminary discussions with Camara’s camp while examining his financial demands and his suitability for Andoni Iraola’s system.
Football Insider has also reported that talks have taken place with the player’s agent, suggesting Liverpool’s interest may be further advanced than that of the other clubs monitoring the midfielder.
Arsenal and Manchester City are both understood to have watched Camara in person. Chelsea remain in the picture after coming close to signing him before Monaco withdrew from a proposed transfer late in the summer window.
Camara had been ready to move to Stamford Bridge, with the proposed agreement reportedly worth about £47 million. Monaco’s valuation has since risen, however, and more recent reports have placed his asking price at approximately £60m.
The midfielder’s performances have strengthened his standing at Monaco. His energy, ability to win the ball and willingness to carry possession have made him an attractive option for clubs seeking greater control in midfield.
Liverpool scouts subsequently watched Camara impress against Paris Saint-Germain, while he also featured against the club in a pre-season meeting.
His profile is viewed as a potential answer to Liverpool’s midfield concerns, given his capacity to cover ground, compete physically, regain possession and move the ball forward. His age also fits the club’s preference for players who can develop while retaining significant resale value.
Any move would depend on whether Liverpool decide that their need for greater midfield control warrants paying Monaco’s revised valuation. If those problems continue before January, Camara could become a higher priority for the club.
